Getting Started & Course Eligibility

To begin this course you must be at least 18 years old.

Course access expires after 6 months after purchase, you do not have to complete the course in one day, take your time!

If you do not complete your course in 6 months, no refunds will be given and no additional access will be granted. Don’t worry the course is 6 hours and you’ll be in no time.

Using the Course

The timer works by tracking how long you have spent in the course. The timer tracks in 10 second intervals. You will need to reload the page to see the updated time. If this timer is not working correctly disable all browser extensions. If the timer is still not working, take the course with the Google Chrome browser.

You will need to spend at least 330 minutes in the course before taking the In-Course DPS Test

If you fail a Lesson Assessment, you can retake it as many times as you like with no time restrictions!

You have three attempts to pass the ‘In-Course DPS Written Exam’ before your course progress is reset (This is required by the State of Texas). Don’t worry our course prepares you and we provide Practice Exams so you can pass it on your first try.

What is the Impact Texas Teen Drivers Course?

The Impact Texas Teen Drivers Course is a free online course provided by the Texas DPS. Take this course only after you have completed all 12 Lessons of ParentTaught.com. The ITTD course is 2 hours long and consists of 8 modules. You can complete it at your own pace.

How do I take the ITTD Course?

  1. Go to the ITTD website
  2. Create an account
    1. The ITTD course is completely separate from the ParentTaught.com course. You will need to create a new account.
    2. When registering it will ask you for driver education type, select Parent Taught, and then “PT214 – ParentTaught.com”
  3. Complete the course and earn your ITTD certificate

I need help regarding the ITTD Course or ITTD Certificate

The ITTD program is managed by the Texas DPS not ParentTaught.com. If there is an issue with the course or your certificate contact the ITTD support directly by email: ITD@dps.texas.gov or phone: 512-424-5623.

ITTD Certificate Questions

  • I can’t find my ITTD Certificate
  • When do I receive my ITTD Certificate?
    • After completing the ITTD course you will be emailed a certificate. Print out this certificate and take it to the DPS when you are taking your driving test. If your certificate is not emailed to you, login to your ITTD account to view it.
  • Does the ITTD Certificate expire?
    • Yes! Your Certificate expires 90 days after receiving it. Make sure to take your driving test before it expires or you’ll be required to take the course again and a get a new certificate.

What do I need to do?

The Impact Texas Adult Drivers program (ITAD) is a free, 1 hour informational video that shares the dangers of distracted driving along with real life stories of teens that have lost their lives. It is provided by the Texas DPS, not Happy Drivers Ed. You have 90 days from the date you successfully complete the program to pass the driving skills exam. You MUST bring your valid certificate of completion of this program to the DPS or third party driving test provider at the time you are administered your driving test. The course can be accessed from this web address: https://impacttexasdrivers.dps.texas.gov/ITAD/.

How do I do it?

  1. Schedule your Driving Test Appointment at a nearby DPS
  2. Sign up for the ITAD Program (Make sure to use the same name you used for your certificate)
  3. Create an account
    1. The ITTD course is completely separate from the ParentTaught.com course. You will need to create a new account.
    2. When registering it will ask you for driver education type, select TDLR Number, and then “C3476”
  4. Complete the ITAD Program and print a paper copy of your certificate.
    • The certificate must be dated within 90 days of the drive test.

Quick Tips

  • You don’t have to complete the 1 hour video all at once, there are 3 different sections.

What do I need to know for my driving test?

Luckily for you, the DPS created form DL-60, which provides you with just about everything you’ll need to know about your driving test in one handy place.

What happens if I fail my driving test?

You get three attempts within 90 days to pass your driving test. If you fail all three attempts or 90 days go by, you’ll have to resubmit your application and application fee before being able to take more tests.

How do I schedule my DPS Road Test?

Account & Billing

If you’ve forgotten your password, never created one, or you’re having trouble logging in to your Happy Drivers Ed account, go to the reset password page.

Enter the email address you used to purchase the course, then click Reset Password. A link to reset your password will be emailed to the address.

Tip: Reset passwords links are one time use only, they also expire after a period of time.

You have received the reset email, but the link doesn’t work:
  • If you’ve requested a reset link more than once, make sure you’re referencing the most recent email.
  • You may need to disable your email service’s mail scanner or link preview, which could make the link expire before you open it.

To be eligible for a refund your purchase must have been within the last 30 days and you must not have earned a certificate. If you have earned a certificate you are no longer eligible for a refund.
